Name: Amanda B.
Occupation: Marketing Director
Number of years with MNFD: 4 ½ years
Hometown: Dubuque, Iowa
Family/Pets? Husband Aaron and son Jackson (Jax). Most of my extended family still lives in Iowa.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, I loved to write, so everyone thought I would be an author. However, I really wanted to be a professional choreographer.
What was your first job?
I briefly had a paper route in my neighborhood until I became an assistant dance teacher. When I was old enough, I was a dance instructor and worked at Younkers through high school and college.
What are your hobbies/interests?
I love photography. I also enjoy a variety of outdoor activities: camping, hiking, canoeing.
What is your favorite sport to watch and/or play?
I’ve played volleyball for a number of years. However, it is now more recreational than competitive. I love watching football… GO HAWKEYES! Three strikes against me in WI: I’m also a Cubs and Bears fan.
What is your biggest pet-peeve? Insincerity or narcissism: both are pretty intolerable to me.
What was your favorite band(s) in high school?
I was really into punk and ska music (Rancid, Millencolin, Goldfinger, Less than Jake, NOFX), but I would have to say Weezer was a favorite.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Italy was always my dream vacation, and I was fortunate enough to go there for my honeymoon. Otherwise, Devil’s Lake will always have a fond place in my heart as I have years of memories camping there!
Name one thing on your Bucket List: to see the Northern Lights
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m a decent artist although I haven’t taken the time lately to create.
What are you really bad at that you’d love to be great at?
I really wish I could speak another language.
What is something about you that might surprise us?
I danced for over 20 years and have performed at half-time shows, a cruise ship, and even Disney!
What is your favorite part of working for MNFD?
I believe in our mission and appreciate working for a company that puts people as their first priority. My awesome co-workers help too :)
